Ive sat down to write this a few times but each time I do, I end up feeling very overwhelmed.
So lets try again….
Friday afternoon was our OLY lifting session. Worked up to our max snatch, then the C&J.
I learned a lot about these lifts, but I hit no PR’s. Was a little mad at myself, but I learned a lot so I’ll get over it. Anyone who was there will agree I am lucky to be alive and walking around
Dropping 185 on your head is not ever good. Rudy suggested I maybe go pro in the circus? Not nice Rudy, not nice.
I took away from that so many new techniques to work with and a realization that I need to start forcing myself to max out more.
Saturday am was the open WOD. I decided there was no strategy that was going to be good for me mentally other than just do fkn burpees for 7 min without stopping. I was heat 4 and got to watch Talayna do her’s right before. She went for the entire 7 min and stopped to breathe maybe 3 times.
My apparatus was fantastic, a roller laid across two rings, taped in place with my very own personal boy standing on a box with a PVC pipe holding it in place so it didn’t swing. Need me to repeat that? Like I said, fantastic… I had Mike, Jess and Gio cheering me on thank God because I was off in the corner by myself. I finished with 120. I felt like it was solid enough, and I never want to do 120 burpees without stopping again. What kind of torturous minds are thinking up these WOD’s this year?
We had a few min of rest and went right into 5 RFT of: 10 GHD, 20 KB one arm snatch @35, 40 DU’s….time- 10:17
Then we had 30 min to get changed and meet at a pool……where we learned some swimming skills. Then for some crazy ass WOD in the pool, dirt HSPU on a fence, pistols in the grass, and broad jumps….yah happy birthday to me.
The last day was kind of sad because I knew it was coming to an end.
First task of the day was to establish a 5 RM front squat, from the ground. So I performed more circus acts such as landing a 180 clean on my knees and standing up with it, then continuing to complete 5 front squats. I figured I should prob stop there.
Next WOD was 3RFT: 400m run, 3 bar MU’s, a handstand walk, and 12 of the highest WBS I’ve ever seen. It was awesome to watch Dre, Jess, Gio, Josh, Guido, Noah and all the others crush this.
The lectures were hilarious, informative, and very valuable as a coach and an athlete. The coaching was intense and from the heart. It will go down in my book as one of the best weekends I’ve had yet.
T and I talked today about the “downer” side to these amazing CF events. For a few days you get to be around all of these fantastic people who live, eat, think and train like you. Then its over and you have to return to reality. The feeling I had driving home on Sunday sucked. So I came up with a solution…we should have CF compounds all over the place where only paleo food is served, CF is mandatory, and we all walk around half naked and in lululemon gear all day. Ha! as if we need to be considered more “cult like”…
Huge thanks to The Outlaw crew! And of course my 305 family, Jess, Gio, Dre, Mike, Serg, & Noah!
THANKS FOR A GREAT BDAY GUYS
